Born into the embrace of Fayette County on October 9, 1957, he was the cherished son of the late James Edward and Jean Russell Mongold. His love story with Lucinda “Cindy” Wilson began on May 5, 1995, when they united in marriage, a bond that persists beyond his earthly departure.

Educated at Miami Trace High School, Steven carved a legacy as a retired Trailer Shop Mechanic from R&L Carriers. His skilled hands and passion for craftsmanship were further evident in his garage, where he tinkered with old cars. Yet, his heart’s true joy was found in taking leisurely car rides alongside his beloved wife Cindy, and in the tender moments shared with his family, most notably his cherished grandkids.

A beacon of love and strength, Steven leaves behind a legacy interwoven with precious connections. Besides Cindy, he is survived by his loving children, Steven McCullah of Loveland and Shanna (Rick) Cheney of Wilmington. His legacy extends to the next generation, touching the lives of his adored grandchildren: Keith Lawson, Zylar McCullah, Jayden Mongold, Kade McCullah, and Chandler Cheney. The circle of affection is widened by his devoted sisters, Becky (Chuck) Varney, Mary (Kevin) Leisure, and Jackie (Wayne) Smith, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide array of friends.

Steven’s poignant narrative is adorned with both love and loss. United in eternity with his parents and brother Jimmy Mongold, his memory continues to live on as a cherished remnant in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In a poignant tribute, a funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Summers Funeral Home in Washington Court House, led by the heartfelt words of Drew Langford.
