James Scarboro Obituary, Death – On June 10, 2023, Mr. James “Jamie” Ronald Scarboro Jr., 59, abruptly passed away at his residence in Greenville, Florida. Jamie was born on September 30, 1963, to Nancy Harper Scarboro and James Ronald Scarboro Sr. in Thomasville, Georgia. While still a student at Greenville High School, he started working at Sonny Harris’ gas station. He went to work for the Madison County Road Department after finishing his shift at the gas station, where he remained for 30 years before retiring.

Jamie was a Baptist and a member of Greenville’s St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church. He liked spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, going to the mountains, and working in his yard in his free time. His mother Nancy Harper Scarboro and his wife Nancy Cooksey Scarboro predeceased him.

He is survived by: his father, James Ronald “Ronnie” Scarboro Sr., of Greenville; his son, J.R. Scarboro, and wife Kalyn, of Madison, FL; his daughter, Katelyn King, and husband Kyle, of Lovett, FL; a brother, Jonathan Scarboro, and wife Kim, of Madison; 2 sister-in-law’s, Mary Cooksey and Norma Eleazer, both of Waukeenah, FL; 3 grandchildren, Mason Scarboro, Kolton and Kenley King; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Rev. Bryant Thigpen will preside over the funeral services on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 3 o’clock in the Burns Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Madison. Following that, there will be an instant burial at Greenville’s Evergreen Cemetery. One hour before the service, friends will be welcomed by the family. Donations to St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, 5905 NW Lovett Road, Greenville, FL 32331, may be made in lieu of flowers. Burns Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of all preparations.
