Bill Mitchell Obituary, Death – We are in a state of tremendous mourning as a result of the demise of Bill Mitchell BEM, one of our volunteers who had worked with us for the longest time and was the most committed.
Bill has educated, developed, and mentored hundreds of people in the fields of handicapping, course grading, greenkeeping, and environmental stewardship over the period of more than 40 years. His effect could be felt well beyond the confines of Scotland.

In the past, Bill has held the positions of Chairman of the Scottish Golf Union and Director of Golf Services. He has also served on CONGU, the European Golf Association Handicapping and Course Rating Committee, and the United States Golf Association – USGA Course Rating Committee (where he was the first person from the UK to be personally invited to join the latter).

In addition, Bill has been the first person from the UK to be personally invited to join the United States Golf Association. In addition to this, Bill was the first individual from the UK to receive a personal invitation to become a member of the latter. Everyone who knew him at Scottish Golf and in the wider golfing community across the world will mourn his passing with profound sadness.

His passing will be mourned with great sadness around the world. The funeral for Bill will be held on Friday, the 16th of June, at eleven o’clock in the morning, and it will take place in the Johnstone High Parish Church. Following that, at around twelve o’clock in the afternoon, we arrived to the Kilbarchan graveyard.
